Five Have Applied for Commissioner Spot
Fayette County Pct. 2 Commissioner Luke Sternadel will retire at the end of this month.
According to state law, County Judge Dan Mueller has the sole authority to appoint his successor since there is not enough time to call a special election at this point in Sternadel’s term. The successor will serve until the next regular election in 2026.
“I’ve taken five applications from people who applied for it,” Mueller said. “They’re five good applications. I’ll make my decision soon.”
The new Pct. 2 Commissioner will be in charge of one of the most wealthy and growing sections of the County that includes the Round Top, Fayetteville, Carmine and Ellinger areas.
Lately, nearly every Commissioners Court meeting agenda includes some item about a new residential subdivision in Pct. 2.
