Carmine to Host Dumpster Day June 13-14
The City of Carmine is sponsoring a Dumpster Day on June 13-14. On Saturday, the hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and on Sunday, 8 a.m.-12 noon. It will be located at City Hall, 260 Luther Lane, Carmine. A truck load will be $25 and trailer loads are $50. You must unload yourself. This is for Carmine residents only with proof of residency.
Prohibited items include tires, household hazardous waste such as paint, oil, chemicals, and pesticides, refrigerators, and E-waste such as computers, monitors, and household electronic items with internal components like mercury and other heavy metals.
RT-C School News
The Round Top-Carmine baseball team’s season came to an end at the Regional Semi-final game. They were defeated by Medina in the best of two out of three games. The community is very proud of the team.
RT-C will host a variety of sports camps throughout the summer. Included are Strength and Conditioning; Summer Skill Work; Basketball Camp; Volleyball Camp; and Baseball Camp. Go to the rtcisd.com web site for dates and registration information.
Martin Luther Lutheran
Worship with Holy Communion is May 24 with the Rev. Bonnie Parker serving as the guest pastor.
The Rev. John David Nedbalek of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top will lead the service on May 31, which will be confirmation Sunday.
Vacation Bible School is scheduled for June 14-18 with the closing on June 21.
Senior Citizens meet on Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Mission & Ministry Building.
AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m.
Women of the ELCA
The Women of the ELCA of Martin Luther Lutheran Church will host the annual Salad Supper on June 3. Come early to gather and visit at 6 p.m. The meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. The theme is “Feeding the Multitude.” Susan Schultz from the AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange will serve as the guest speaker. All are welcome.
Rebekah Group
The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on May 14, 2026 with nine members present. They were Joys Baird, Nancy Eilers, Leonita Sanders, Dianna Gerland, Sedalia Ullrich, Loydine Mays, Joann Ullrich, Diana Wunderlich, and Susan Ray.
The Bible study was led by Joys with the theme “I AM, God’s Name, God’s Promise,” Session 3-Resurrection and Life: Leading us into abundant life.
President Susan Ray called the business meeting to order.
Joys gave the offering meditation.
As a WELCA decision, it was decided to send $100 to Upbring for the Mother’s Day Offering.
Sedalia reported that the party at Silversage assisted living in Brenham was cancelled, due to a funeral the morning of May 5 at our church. She will reschedule another party there. The party at Bec’s Blessing in Giddings will be on August 26.
Joys Baird reported that non-perishable food may be placed in the basket in the narthex. Food donated to AMEN will be used to decorate for the WELCA salad supper on June 3.
Leonita explained a list of items for taco soup that may be purchased, placed in a two-gallon bag for AMEN, and brought to the banquet. It also will include a recipe for which the ingredients are: a 12.5 oz. can of chunk chicken breast, a 10.5 oz. can of cream of chicken soup, two cans of 15 oz. chicken and rice, a 15 oz. can of corn, a 10 oz. can of diced tomatoes with green chilis, and an envelope of taco seasoning.
The WELCA Fall Gathering of the Western Cluster will be in Fayetteville.
Hostesses were Susan Ray and Nancy Eilers.
The meeting adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer and the singing of the table prayer.
Recycling Trailers
The recycling trailers are at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. Clean milk cartons should be kept separate from the other No. 2 plastics. They also accept clean No. 1 plastic bottles and jugs. Note that numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics and plastic bags are not accepted. Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans.
