Speed Reunion
The 77th annual Speed family reunion is set to be held on Saturday, June 13, at the Muldoon Mercantile. There will be a long family tree on display along with other family documents and items.
Descendants are invited to bring along their family treasures of letters, documents, pictures, etc., to put out on display for everyone to enjoy. There are lots of interesting items that will be out for the family to check out. Also, everyone is asked to bring along a door prize to be drawn for after the family meeting.
The fun begins at 10 a.m. with the mixing and mingling of the families. Everyone is asked to bring along food to share for a big family buffet that starts at 11:30 a.m. If you are a descendant of Bob, Frank or Tom Speed, be sure to come meet the cousins for a great party.
4th of July Parade
The 4th of July is not far off and everyone is invited to start making their plans to attend the Muldoon Park Association’s big celebration in the park. There are some exciting plans being made for the parade, an All-American Hot Dog lunch, and a fundraising auction. And most exciting of all, there will be a live band performing in the park.
Everyone is invited to be a part of the parade, so start thinking of a way to show your patriotic spirit for the 250th anniversary of our nation’s birthday. Think decorated bikes, trucks, tractors, horses, full out floats, etc.. This will be fun.
Following the parade, there will be mingling in the park with a patriotic hat contest and a big hot dog meal with a free will donation. Bring along your favorite summer add-on to this wonderful hot dog, sides and desserts to add to the big sharing picnic in the park. Be sure and bring your lawn chairs to be comfortable.
There also will be an auction to raise funds to care for the park. The park is a center piece of the community and needs to be maintained, so bring out and donate some really nice stuff to support the park. Who knows, you might find some treasures to take home for yourself. The baked goods are always a great thing to have the winning bid on. So start making plans now to come out and celebrate the 4th of July in Muldoon.

Out and About
Last weekend, Pam Sheffield‘ s son-in-law Grey and grandson Ben, along with Ben’s friend Tripp from Houston, came to spend the weekend with her since their camping trip got rained out. Grey used this time to repair Pam’s tractor and mowed all around her property for her. The boys had a great time playing basketball, chess and cards. Mostly, they enjoyed riding around the property on the go-kart and the Kubota. They took turns following each other all around. Grey took them fishing at the pond where they caught a few bass. They enjoyed a cookout and watched movies and a basketball game on TV. It was a great weekend except for all the chigger bites.
