All County Schools Show Improvement in Newest State Rankings
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released its annual school accountability ratings for the 2024-25 school year on Friday, Aug. 15. All of the school districts in Fayette County showed improvement over the previous year, with some campuses performing better than others.
According to TEA, the ratings measure how much students are learning in each grade and whether or not they are ready for the next grade. They also show how well a school or district prepares their students for success after high school in college, the workforce, or the military.
The TEA assigns each district with a letter and a number grade, just like students receive on their report cards.
Fayetteville ISD continues to outperform the other districts in the County with a overall grade of 96 for the third year in a row.
Flatonia ISD followed close behind with a 95, improving from a 92 the year before.
Round Top-Carmine ISD scored a high B with an overall grade of 89, La Grange ISD, the largest school district in the County, improved from a 73 in 202324 to 78 last year. La Grange Middle School improved the most out all campuses in the County, going from a 76 in 2023-24 to 83 last year.
Schulenburg ISD came in last with an overall grade of 73. That’s an improvement over the grade of 69 they received in 2023-24.
Schulenburg Elementary continues to struggle in the accountability ratings. It dropped from a 65 in the 2023-24 school year to 57 last year, making it the only campus in Fayette County to receive a failing grade. That’s even worse than the grade of 59 it received three years ago. Lots more information is available on the TEA’s school accountability website: www. txschools.gov.
