The first of 12 contestants was eliminated Sunday on the new CBS country music reality series “The Road” and it wasn’t Winchester’s Briana Adams, who lives to perform another day.

Oklahoman Blaine Bailey was eliminated, leaving 11 musicians, including Adams, still in contention on the show. Country music stars Blake Shelton and Keith Urban are the judges and Gretchen Wilson is the tour manager.

In the opening episode all the contestants were judged on their performances as opening acts on one of Urban’s tour stops.

In the episode Adams talks about Winchester, sings a song about La Grange, and gets some nice feedback from Shelton.

“The Road” will air weekly with at least one singer expected to be sent home each episode. Taping took place earlier this year across seven dates in Texas, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

The next episode of “The Road” is this Sunday at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.

The winner of “The Road” is going to get a $250,000 cash prize, a recording contract, a Red Bull prize package and a performance slot at Stagecoach Country Music Festival next April in California.
