SLM Hosts Parking Lot Worship Service, Memorial Day Service Held in Ellinger

The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County held a parking lot worship service on Sunday, May 24 at St. John Lutheran Church in Warrenton at 10 a.m. The parking lot worship was deemed a success with worship leaders, ushers, parking attendants, tech support, thirty-two cars of worshipers, five cars of visitors and two dogs in attendance.

Holy Cross Reopens, Pastor Bible Class Continues

Holy Cross Lutheran Church has resumed services while complying with State guidelines for corporate worship. The Pastor’s Bible Class immediately follows the service in the sanctuary; however, all other Sunday School classes remain cancelled. Members 65 and older and those with underlying health conditions are encouraged to continue to worship from their homes.

After Long Service to the City, Outgoing Councilman Eilert Gets His Own Day

John Eilert stepped down as a councilman for Ward 4 in La Grange at the city council meeting Tuesday night, May 26. He had served in that position for 12 years. The City Council took the opportunity to proclaim that day as John Eilert Day in La Grange.

New Food Pantry Should Open in June

The move-in date for the new AMEN food pantry looks like it will be sometime in June. The move will occur on a Tuesday so as not to disrupt the food distribution schedule of the pantry, and treasurer Garry Schellberg said the pantry won’t miss a single distribution day because of the move. Farmers And Ranchers To Receive Direct Support For Losses Related To COVID-19

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced details of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP), which will provide up to $16 billion in direct payments to deliver relief to America’s farmers and ranchers impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to this direct support to farmers and ranchers, USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box program is partnering with regional and local distributors, whose workforces have been significantly impacted by the closure of many restaurants, hotels, and other food service entities, to purchase $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat and deliver boxes to Americans in need.
