Locals Shine at State Powerlifting

Flatonia’s Isaac Vasquez finished 10th in the 242 weight class Saturday at the State Powerlifting Meet in Abilene. Isaac finished his career against the best in the state, posting personal records in squat (550) and bench (405) as well a personal best overall total of 1,425 pounds.

Kubala Throws Out First Pitch

Emma Kubala threw out the first pitch at the Schulenburg softball game on Tuesday, March 19, as part of the school’s Turtle Wing Game. It was a strike. Turtle Wing’s mission is “helping individuals with learning challenges in rural areas achieve their full potential,” and Turtle Wing Games are part of the foundation’s education and advocacy efforts. Turtle Wing partners with local high school baseball and softball teams, and a child enrolled in special education gets to be the star of the show and throw out the first pitch. Here are the Round Top-Carmine Regional Golf Results from April 16-17. The Cubettes had one golfer qualify for State as an individual medalist, Angelica LeBouef, and she will be competing at the State Tournament on May 6-7.

Softball/Baseball Round-Up

The Schulenburg softball team will begin the playoffs with a best-of-three series against Charlotte. All games are at Marion High School. Game 1 is Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Game 2 is Friday at 8 p.m. and if necessary, a Game 3 would be Saturday at noon.
