Record Piles Up Awards in Galveston

The Fayette County Record earned several awards over the weekend in Galveston at the combined convention of the South Texas Press Association and the Gulf Coast Press Association at Moody Gardens. All honors were for work done during the 2023 calendar year.

WACA Scholarship Deadline Wednesday

W The WinchesterArea Civic Association (WACA) will be offering a $1,000 scholarship to a person(s) enrolled or enrolling in an institute of higher learning for careers in the professions helping in the community such as nursing, teaching, criminology/peace officer, fire sciences, dental, radiology/imaging, EMT certification/ paramedic. The Association feels careers in these areas serve our community and this is a way to show appreciation to those entering these fields.

FLHS Handbells Wins at TAPPS

The three-octave handbell choir at Faith Lutheran High School (FLHS) of Central Texas in Warda was awarded the ranking of “Superior 1” for their performance of the AGEHR (American Guild of English Handbell Ringers) Level 2 piece, “Away In A Manger” at the recent TAPPS Music Competition in Waco. The group is the first choir from FLHS to qualify for competition. The group will also perform in the SPRINGTHING! concert on May 8 at 7 p.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. The public is invited.

St. John Altar Society Quilt Raffle

St. John Altar Society of Fayetteville will hold their annual fundraiser on Saturday, April 27 with a bake sale, country store, hot dogs and a raffle featuring this hand quilted queen size quilt at the Recreation Hall. Tickets can be purchased at the church office or at Fayetteville Bank.
