Packed House Hears About Painting on Quilts

It was a full house on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at The Texas Quilt Museum. Quilt fans came from near and far for another free Gallery Talk: “The Secrets of Painted Threads.”

Guests enjoyed hearing the stories and watching renowned quilt artist, Sherri Lipman McCauley demonstrate her methods of painting on fabric for her art quilts.

The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center spring meeting/luncheon will be held at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange on Thursday, April 25. Registration will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Cash door prizes will be awarded to ten lucky attendees who have registered by 10:30 a.m. The meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. Guest speaker will be Jack Thompson, the new La Grange City Manager. Lunch consisting of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, broccoli salad, glazed carrots, dinner roll and banana pudding will be served at 11:30 a.m. for $5. Tillman Found Guilty of Murder

A Fayette County Jury has found Charles Lee Tillman Jr. guilty of murder for killing David Harrison Jr.

MS 150 Rolls Through County This Weekend

The 40th annual MS 150 will have starts in Houston and Austin with all riders ending up in La Grange at the Fayette County Fairgrounds this weekend for the first night. The ride is scheduled for April 27-28. Three years ago, the route was changed so that Austin riders start in Austin, Houston riders start in Houston and everyone meets in La Grange for the Saturday night stay. They are expecting approximately 5,700 riders, which is down from the early years due to the pandemic and years of challenging weather.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of March 31-April 6. Assault On March 31, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 500 block of West Avenue for an assault.

Child, 10, in Gonzales Suspected Shooter in Cold Case Murder

On Jan. 18, 2022 the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Lazy J RV Park located at 85 Wild Meadow Nixon, Texas for a report of an unresponsive male at the location. The RV Park owner received a call from Holmes Foods that one of his tenants had not reported to work in two days. The owner entered the RV after repeatedly knocking on the door and not receiving an answer. The owner discovered Brandon deceased. Responding Deputies discovered Brandon O’Quinn Rasberry White Male DOB 0831-1989 had been murdered. Brandon had been shot in the head one time. The Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Texas Department of Public Safety Ranger Division conducted the investigation. Several items of evidence were located, collected and sent to the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Laboratory in Austin, Texas for forensic analysis. Investigators also wrote search warrants for GEO Location data on Brandon’s Cellular Phone as well as any other cell phones in the area at the time of the murder, that didn’t provide any new leads.
