Lady Leps Improve to 21-3 as LG Bashes Bellville in District Opener

The weather outside was getting frightful.

But inside the gym, the La Grange girls basketball team’s performance was, again, delightful.

In a game moved up an hour to help fans get home before a powerful storm moved through the area Friday night, the Lady Leps opened district play with a 58-41 win over visiting Bellville in the district opener for both teams.

The win improved the Lady Leps’ overall record to 21-3, but more importantly gives them a 1-0 mark in district play heading into Tuesday night’s 6 p.m. home game against Navasota.

“Coming into tonight I was worried with the game being moved up, but we got off to a good start offensively (20 points in the first quarter), probably the best we’ve started off in the first quarter,” said La Grange head coach Heath Golan. “Defensively our effort early could have been better. In the second half our defense was a lot better.”
