Holiday Tradition Returns to Festival Hill

Locals Join Cast of 90 Performers

Round Top Festival Institute will once again present Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic ballet, The Nutcracker. This year’s production celebrates the 12th annual performance danced by Ovation, a youth ballet company in residency at Dancers Workshop in Austin. The legendary ballet will be one show only at the Round Top Festival Institute Concert Hall on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 4pm.

The performance of The Nutcracker will include the largest cast ever - 90 dancers ranging from 2nd grade through high school. Chris Ehresman, Austin-based actor/singer/dancer, will again join the cast as the mysterious Herr Drosselmeyer. This year’s production will include two dancers from Fayette County. Local students hail from La Grange and Weimar. These dancers are ballet students at Saltare Studio in La Grange. They travel to Austin every Saturday to rehearse with Ovation Ballet Company members who are all students at Dancers Workshop.

Local dancers are Alexandria Havelka, from La Grange, and Annie Rabel, from Weimar. Miss Havelka, 17 year old daughter of Cindy and Nick Havelka, will dance the roles of Parent, Rat King and Mint. Lexie is a senior at La Grange High School and is the Colonel of the Leopardettes Drill Team.
