Bellville Snaps Leps’ Four-Game Win Streak

If you think the Bellville football team is good after their 52-27 victory over La Grange Friday (a loss that snapped the Leps’ four-game win streak), consider this:

The Brahmas did so with six of their seven touchdowns and 355 rushing yards coming from sophomores.

As dangerous as the Brahmas might be in the coming years they were plenty to handle Friday and the Leps were unable to do so as La Grange fell to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in district.

“They just had a fantastic D-line and two good backs who were really physical, really hard runners,” said La Grange quarterback Matthew Johnson. “We’ve just got to put this game behind us and fight forward.”

Bellville improves to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in district, and can win a share of the district title with a win Friday at last place Brookshire.

La Grange, meanwhile, has clinched at least a third place playoff spot, but could claim at least a share of the district title with a win at Giddings Friday in the regular season finale.

Giddings lost to Smithville 41-14 Friday.
