Second Chance Nears Completion of its Own ‘Resurrection Story’

“I look at it as a kind of resurrection story,” Rev. Eric Hungerford said Friday. He was speaking of the new home of Second Chance Emporium, the La Grange resale store sponsored by local churches. Hungerford, rector of St. James Episcopal Church, serves as president of the organization.

The original location of Second Chance on West Travis Street was flooded during Hurricane Harvey two years ago. The non-profit found an interim home at what was supposed to be an expanded location of the Amen Food Pantry on South Reynolds Street. The new Second Chance facility is next door to the new Amen location.

“Fayette Savings provided matching funds. Fayetteville Bank provided financing. Volunteer project manager was George Burton.
