Drive-Through Wildlife Park

The first load of exotic deer arrived at a wildlife park near La Grange that plans to open next spring.

Chuck and Tara Schomburg recently purchased a 100-acre property at the corner of Plum Church Road and State Highway 71. Chuck, who runs a bulldozer business, is building trails through the high-fenced property. They plan to stock it with animals from around the world

“We like animals, and this piece of property came up for sale,” said Chuck Schomburg. “It’s got good grass, good deep topsoil. We’re going to have pretty much every hoofed animal from around the world. We’ll probably not have giraffes right away, and we won’t have zebras, because they tend to kill other animals.
