Quick Work By First Responders Saves Life of La Grange Man Attacked by Bees

La Grange retiree Kenneth Cobb survived a bee attack at his home last Friday, July 5, thanks to some quick action by local first responders.

“The police department, EMS and fire department – I can’t thank them enough. They saved by life,” Cobb said in an interview with the Record on Monday, July 9.

Cobb, a hobby beekeeper, was mowing the back yard of his home on Horton Street the morning after Independence Day when he accidentally hit his beehive with a riding mower.

“I wasn’t drunk or hungover or anything,” joked Cobb, a gregarious former Marine Corps pilot. “They started coming out of that hive and tore me up.”
