Hammered But Unharmed

Three Tornadoes, 120 MPH Winds Slam Fayette County Leaving a Path of Destruction, But No Major Injuries

At least three confirmed tornadoes ripped across the west side of Fayette County Friday morning, May 3. No one was injured in the storm, according to Fayette County EMS, but it will go down in the books as one of the most destructive tornadic events to hit the county in years.

The biggest of the three twisters was an EF2 tornado with 120 mph winds. It tore a path twoand-a-half miles long and about 75 yards wide on the west side of La Grange.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), two smaller twisters touched down in the county as well that morning, one near the Fayette-Lavaca county line south of Flatonia and another near Freyburg.
