Suspect in Custody Following Disturbance on Slo John Road

Update 4 p.m.: Chief Deputy Randy Noviskie of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office reported that the incident earlier on Slo John Road began as a disturbance between a husband and wife.

Noviskie said the man had a gun, but he could not confirm whether any shots were fired.

“The husband got upset and walked in the woods behind his house,” Noviskie said.

Officers searched for about an hour and a half before taking the man into custody.

"No one was hurt, and we're having the suspect evaluated."

Update 1:40 p.m.: We heard from one of the officers that a suspect is in custody.

Earlier around Noon: There’s a heavy law enforcement presence on Slo John Road near Flatonia this afternoon.

At least a dozen officers appear to be searching for someone. A search helicopter has been circling the area. Agencies on scene include the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Fayette County EMS, among others.

Some of the officers are carrying rifles. EMS transported one woman away from the scene in an ambulance.
