Truck Spills Two Miles of Oil on Highway

La Grange Volunteer Fire Department cleaned up a huge oil spill on FM 155 Wednesday afternoon, March 28.

According to witnesses at the scene, a garbage truck heading west on FM 155 began leaking oil near Lane Pool Road. The truck left a slick trail more than two miles long. The truck apparently continued across US 77 onto Loop 92 toward Monument Hill State Park.

Upon arrival, Fire Chief Frank Menefee was overwhelmed by the amount of oil on the road. He told dispatchers over the radio, “There’s not enough Micro-Blaze in six counties to clean all this up,” referring to the brand of foam firefighters use to clean up oil spills.
