Andrew Franklin

Andrew Franklin (A.F.) Hall, Jr., 84, of La Grange, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

A.F. was born in Smithwick on Jan. 29, 1935, the son of Andrew Franklin, Sr. and Maggie (Heffington ) Hall. He graduated from Marble Falls High School, proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged. He married the love of his life, Rosie Kana, on Feb. 20, 1960 in Swiss Alp.

A.F.’s careers were that of “Courtesy, Service, and Protection” (the Dept. of Public Safety Motto) to his community, serving as State Trooper in the Highway Patrol division for 28 years. After retiring from DPS, he was elected Fayette County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1. Before final retirement, he was appointed to fill in as Constable. He also worked with Brian Sergeant at his funeral home. A.F. was a member of the Volunteer Fire Dept., VFW, and was a Master Mason in good standing of La-Fayette Masonic Lodge #34.

In his spare time A.F.’s passions were hunting, collecting guns and reloading ammunition. He loved to go to his home town and hunt in the beautiful hill country with his brothers, children and grandchildren. He also loved to watch NASCAR and other sports. He attended the Church of Christ in La Grange.

In his retirement, A.F. and his wife loved to hook up the RV and travel extensively. He enjoyed sharing the tales of his career with his family and friends. He was great friends with all of the residents and staff at Jefferson Place in La Grange and was their official rain reporter to the local radio station. He will be missed and remembered by so many.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rosie, of 59 years; son, Mark Hall and his wife, Laurie, of San Antonio; daughter, Terri (Hall) Droemer, and husband, Ted, of Giddings; three grandchildren: Taylor Droemer of Giddings; Luke Hall of Indianapolis, Indiana; Jennifer Van Tine of Fresno and husband, Justin.

A.F. was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Elwanda, Jim, Clint, Seldon, Sebran, Harlan and Ferroll; and daughter, Debbie Kolek.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Family was present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation continued Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations.

Funeral Services were held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Interment will follow in the La Grange City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter, Fayette County Sheriff’s Memorial & Benevolent Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
