Lady Leps Crush Bay City 14-2 in Softball

The La Grange softball team pounded Bay City 14-2 Tuesday in a game that ended after fourand-a-half innings because of the mercy rule.

Natalie Blackwell cranked out four hits, including a home run, and Sydney Fritsch had three hits including two doubles and a home run to both lead a prolific offensive night for La Grange. Aly Trlicek had two hits including a double and Kailee Jones hit a triple.

“I have been waiting for our bats to come around like that for a few weeks now,” said La Grange head coach Amanda Arlund. “To score eight runs in the first inning like that was huge. Scoring early helps your pitcher out, it gives the defense confidence, so it was big all-around.”

Pitcher Abbey Weyand threw a complete game six hitter with seven strikeouts for La Grange, which improved to 11-6 with the win.
