LG Football Star Johnson Returns to Hometown to Share Words of Wisdom

La Grange football superstar Johnny Johnson was back in town Saturday to talk to University of Texas Exes at their annual Texas Independence Day get together at Hostyn Hall. He spent the morning driving around his old home town, looking for familiar landmarks. “There is nothing like coming home,” he said.

At the event, Johnson reviewed his amazing career beginning with the Leopards winning their first ever state championship in football in 1975. He played four years for the Longhorns as a defensive back.

Johnson was the Los Angeles Rams number one draft pick in 1980 and spent ten years as a professional football player, remarkable because the average pro career is three and one half years.
