As Oil Production in Eastern Part of County Heats Up, Many Around Fayetteville Part of New Lease

Some Fayetteville landowners are expecting a little mailbox money.

The Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) permitted eight new oil and gas wells in Fayette County since Dec. 1. All of those wells are located on the eastern side of the county.

One of those leases, Rambo Unit 2H, is an allocation well operated by Ramtex Energy that includes much of the town of Fayetteville. Paperwork filed with the RRC lists more than 200 parcels of property in the lease. Most of those are residential lots in Fayetteville of a half acre or less lying on the south side of Live Oak Street.

Allocation wells are a controversial development in the oil and gas industry whereby an operator can drill a horizontal well across another operator’s lease lines. The other operator in this case, Te-Ray Resources, filed a document with the RRC waiving objections to Ramtex’s well.

Listed below are all eight new wells permitted in Fayette County since December according to data published by the Railroad Commission:
