LG Girls Dominate Caldwell To Improve to 3-1 in District

The La Grange girls took complete control early in their home basketball game Tuesday against Caldwell, opening up a 23-3 lead and eventually rolling to a 53-22 victory.

The win improves the Lady Leps overall record to 13-12 and their district record to 3-1 as they prepare for a huge game Friday against district-leading Smithville, which knocked off Navasota Tuesday.

“I saw great effort tonight,” said La Grange head coach Heath Golan. “Some people don’t like seeing bodies falling all over the floor, but that’s hustle to me. We have a couple that really lay it on the line and do that for us. I just wish that once we get the ball we would do a better job of slowing things down and getting under control, but I love the defensive effort.

“This is one of the fastest teams I’ve had coaching girls. You go over the schemes and then turn them loose.”

At times Tuesday Caldwell struggled to even get the ball across half-court, let alone score against an aggressive, speedy La Grange defense.
