Moulton Outruns the Lady Leps

The schedule said it was a basketball game, but at times Tuesday’s La Grange girls basketball matchup against Moulton (which the Lady Leps lost 60-46) looked more like a track meet.

“When both teams are pressuring each other full court, it can turn into one of those,” said La Grange head coach Heath Golan.

These two teams were not afraid to run, and play relentless defense. And for three quarters, this was a slugfest as stateranked Moulton (a 1A regional finaliast last year and a program with 19 state tourney appearances to its credit) took an early 21-8 lead only to see La Grange storm back to cut that lead to just five at halftime.

In an epic third quarter there were 10 ties or lead changes.

“I can tell you our adrenaline was running and it stayed running this entire game,” said La Grange guard Aaliyah Hunt. “This is probably the best we’ve ever played Moulton.”

But Moulton owned the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lady Leps 17-5 over the final eight minutes of the game.
