La Grange Gets Biggest November Sales Tax Ever

La Grange got a check for over $190,000 this month as its November share of sales taxes collected locally. It’s the biggest November payment ever and brings 2018’s year to date total to more than $1.8 million.

Fayette County also levies the local-option sales tax. It has garnered nearly $1.85 million for the first 11 months of the year, up 10.3 percent from the same time last year.

Of the nine area counties tracked by the Record, only two have had greater sales tax growth than Fayette this year. Burleson County is up an astonishing 32.0 percent while Austin County is up 11.9 percent. Only two of the nine are running behind last year’s tax revenue. Gonzales County is down 4.7 percent and Lee County down 4.1 percent.
