Smithville Police Investigating Anonymous Threat to School

Smithville ISD was placed on lockdown this morning. Here's a press release from the school:

"Smithville ISD received an anonymous threat against Smithville schools this morning and immediately contacted the Smithville Police Department. All district campuses and buildings were placed on Lockout for precautionary reasons.  The SPD responded immediately to the situation and coordinated with area law enforcement agencies to assist with securing all SISD campuses.  After determining the campuses were secure and that all students and staff were safe Smithville ISD and Smithville PD ended the Lockout.

"To clarify, a Lockout is called when there is a threat or hazard outside of the school building.  Campuses proceed with business as usual except that no one is allowed in or out of the building.

"The Smithville PD is actively investigating the source of the anonymous threat."
