A Local Kerfuffle

Have you ever found yourself saying, “Whoa, I never expected that!” Sometimes simple problems cover up complex consequences. And as I’ve watched the conversation over the Hope Hill development reveal a more controversial side to this good gesture to help folks damaged beyond their ability to recover from last year’s Colorado River flood, I’m pretty sure it was a reaction that was not expected. Those who saw the multi-year project to build affordable replacement homes as typical of the inclusive and generally friendly nature of the hard-working members of this rural Texas community were no doubt befuddled by the reaction of those who saw the development in an entirely different, and not so charitable way.
