Debate Heats Up Over Hope Hill Development

One member of the La Grange Citizens Alliance raised concerns about the Hope Hill development at Monday’s City Council meeting.

“I don’t think the public is getting the full gist of what’s going on,” La Grange resident Ken Dernehl said at the meting.

The Alliance oppose the Hope Hill development over concerns that it will negatively affect their property values. Dernehl, a member of the Alliance who lives on Upperline Street, had filed open records requests with the City, Fayette County, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Capitol Area Council of Governments, Fayette County Disaster Recovery Team and Samaritan’s Purse, the international Christian nonprofit that donated $3 million toward the Hope Hill Development. The request asked for any communications between the groups concerning the Hope Hill development.
