House District 13 Chaos Continues; Special Election Headed to Run-Off

The Texas House District 13 race is heading to another run-off. Not one of the three candidates running in the May 5 special election gathered 50 percent of the vote needed to fill the unexpired term of ex-state Rep. Leighton Schubert.

The two Republicans in the race, former Grimes County Judge Ben Leman and Austin County businesswoman Jill Wolfskill, will face each other in a run-off on a date that has not yet been set. District-wide results showed Leman leading Wolfskill 43 percent to 37 percent. The lone Democrat, Cecil Webster of Carmine, came in third with about 20 percent of the overall vote.
