Hurricane Mold Spurs An Ecumenical Embrace

St. Paul Lutheran Church in La Grange is sharing its pews with the congregation from St. James Episcopal Church for a few weeks after the discovery of mold in the historic St. James bell tower.

St. James Rector Rev. Eric Hungerford said his church first noticed the mold about a week after Hurricane Harvey blew through La Grange. Hungerford said strong winds from the storm caused rainwater to enter the bell tower through the vented sound openings at the top of the tower. Red, green and black mold now cover the old plaster walls inside the bell tower.
