Rotary Presents $51,604 to Pay Flood Victim Utility Bills

The folks affected by the historic flooding in La Grange probably have some priorities higher than paying their utility bills. Thankfully, they won’t have to worry about their August bill.

The Rotary Club of La Grange presented a $51,604 check to the City of La Grange on Friday, Sept. 22. Rotary Club President Phil Oestreich said the donation will be used to pay the August utilities for all City utility customers affected by the flood. City manager Shawn Raborn said the donation will cover more than 300 accounts. Rotary grant committee chairman Michael Peck said the club plans to also make donations to Fayette Electric Cooperative, Fayette Water Supply and other rural utilities to help those affected in rural areas.
