It Can Be a Complicated Process, But FEMA’s Already Given Out $215,000 Here

Federal Emergency Management Agency and Federal Small Business Administration representatives have set up a disaster recovery center in the new wing at La Grange’s Randolph Recreation Center and business has reportedly been brisk at both agencies.

FEMA spokesperson Jann Tracey noted that the agencies work together closely toward a common goal, but there are important differences in their missions. “The primary difference is that SBA gives loans and FEMA gives grants,” she said.

Individuals, Tracey continued, can go to the SBA for a low-interest loan, “but they first have to make application with FEMA and be referred.”
