Flatonia, Schulenburg Shine At District 28-2A Track Meet

The Schulenburg and Flatonia track teams competed at the District 28-2A meet Wednesday in Ganado. Here’s how the Fayette County athletes fared. The top four in each event advance to the area meet April 12 in Weimar.

Opry to Feature Ken Brothers April 17

The Fayette County Country Music Club will host their monthly Opry on Monday, April 17 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in La Grange, Texas. The show starts at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $8.

La Grange School Board incumbent Rudolph Voss won reelection by one vote in Saturday’s election for Place 7. He got 405 votes, while his challenger, Joe G. Bargas of Holman, brought in 404. Fayette 4-H Competes in Rodeo Austin Livestock Judging Contest March 24

Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Rodeo Austin Livestock Judging Contest on Friday, March 24. The Fayette County 4-H Junior Team 1 placed 5th Overall.

Sacred Heart Altar Society Met March 6

The Sacred Heart Altar Society members met on Monday, March 6, in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. The meeting was opened with a prayer followed by the standard reports by the secretary, treasurer, and assistant treasurer. Seventeen ladies attended the meeting. There was no correspondence to be read.

Littrell to Resign from Council

On the agenda for the Monday 6 p.m. April 10 La Grange city council meeting, there is an item that says: “Acceptance of resignation of Dustin Littrell as Councilmember for Ward 3, with a term expiring May 2024.”

Program on Inheritance Issues at Weimar Library

A free program providing legal information will be held at the Weimar Public Library at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12th with snacks and drinks provided.

Easter Fun at La Grange’s Jersey Barnyard

Overcast conditions Saturday didn’t seem to keep anyone away as huge crowds again converged on The Jersey Barnyard outside La Grange for their annual Saturday-before-Easter egg hunts (above) and festival. Kids also got to feed baby calves (left) and take pictures with the Easter bunny (below).

Schulenburg Picks Superintendent

Julie Motomura has been named the lone finalist for the Schulenburg superintendent vacancy. Most recently she served as a the federal programs coordinator for the Region 5 Education Service Center in Beaumont. She will replace Duane Limbaugh who left Schulenburg ISD in January to become the superintendent in White Deer ISD.

LHS Actors Earn Awards at Area Contest
