La Grange Softball and Baseball Grab Big Wins Tuesday

The La Grange softball team defeated Smithville 7-4 Tuesday to stay undefeated in district play Alyssa Licconi pitched a complete game for La Grange, allowing five hits and four runs. Sarah Kay had two hits for La Grange.

Little League Fields Get Big Upgrade

La Grange Little League recently completed $24,000 worth of renovations at the Little League Fields in town. “The fields were in really bad shape with erosion,” said La Grange Little League President Jake Kellen.

State Powerlifter Vasquez Already Serving in National Guard

Flatonia powerlifter Isaac Vasquez has qualified for the state meet. He will compete Saturday in Abilene. He qualified for state after lifting personal bests in all three lifts at regionals - 385 pounds in bench, 540 in squat and 495 pounds in dead lift.

Shelter Takes in 40 Animals Last Week

As of March 15, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 289: 171 dogs and 118 cats in need. As of March 15, the shelter has 98 animals in care: 60 dogs/38 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Former Isreali Ambassador Visits Fayette County
