Remember When?

City council formally approved rehabilitation treatment for the historic Muster Oak in downtown La Grange. A contract awarded to Columbus Tree and Lawn Service involved cleaning the large cavity at the base of the oak, as well as several other smaller cavities, sterilization, filling in the cavities to provide bases for new growth and cutting out decayed branches.

Proposed County Budget Approved in 3-2 Vote

Fayette County Commissioners Court approved the proposed budget for next year with a split 3-2 vote last Thursday, Aug. 10. Pct. 1 Commissioner Jason McBroom and Pct. 3 Commissioner Harvey Berckenhoff cast the opposing votes.

County’s Sales Tax Up By More Than $220,000

Sales tax money alone isn’t going to solve Fayette County’s budget shortfall, but at least it’s going to help. State Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent the county more than a quarter million dollars last week as its August share of sales taxes collected here.
