County’s Sales Tax Up By More Than $220,000

Sales tax money alone isn’t going to solve Fayette County’s budget shortfall, but at least it’s going to help. State Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent the county more than a quarter million dollars last week as its August share of sales taxes collected here.

Child Care Centers Closing Across State

C An unprecedented number of child care centers are expected to close across the state as pandemic relief funding ends, the Texas Standard reported. A survey conducted by the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children of about 1,600 child care programs indicated 44% were likely to close their doors without additional funding.
