Leps Stage Epic Playoff Comeback

Faced with a must-win playoff doubleheader Saturday, the La Grange baseball team kept their season alive with a gutsy mix of timely hitting and stellar pitching. After losing the first game of their best-of-three baseball playoff series 8-5 to Sealy Thursday, the La Grange baseball team needed to win both their games Saturday in Weimar against the Tigers.

Cubs Roar into Second Round

The Round-Top-Carmine baseball team swept Hull-Daisetta 25-0 and 16-1 Thursday as the Cubs won their 1A bi-district series. RTC (9-11) now advances to face Medina in a best-of-three series at Kyle Lehmann High School.

Three Fayette County Athletes Medal at State Track Meet

Fayette County shined on Texas’ biggest track and field stage last week, with three locals winning medals at the state track meet. Flatonia’s Charanza Wins Discus Bronze On his sixth and final throw Friday at the state track meet, Flatonia’s Zachary Charanza vaulted into the medal stand with a discus toss of 158-feet, 8-inches to place third and win the bronze medal in the Class 2A competition.

New La Grange Girls Soccer, Volleyball Coach

Brittany Oruonyehu has been hired as La Grange High School’s new head volleyball and head girls soccer coach. Brittany is a 12 year veteran in education and coaching. She is an Austin area native and graduated from Texas State University. Brittany’s family consists of husband Victor and children Xavier, Zion, and Skylar. We wrote about Oruonyehu in last Friday’s edition.

New La Grange Girls Basketball Coach

Ryan O’Neal has been hired as La Grange High School’s new Head Girls Basketball Coach and Girls Coordinator. Coach O’Neal is a Katy native and attended college at the University of Texas. He brings 11 years of experience with stops at Nacogdoches and Katy ISD. He is shown at right with his wife Tiffany, sons Cash and Beau, and twin girls Isla and Zoey. Welcome to LG Coach O’Neal. O’Neal replaces Heath Golan, who retired from coaching after this season.

Leps to Open Baseball Playoffs Against Sealy

The La Grange baseball team lost their seeding game Friday 8-2 against Caldwell. That means the district cochampion Leps will get the No. 2 seed out of District 22--4A and face Sealy in the first round of the 4A Division II playoffs.
