Fayetteville pole vault star Lawson Fritsch signed a scholarship agreement to compete for the McNeese State University track team last week. Gillum Homers; Heroic Relief by Freshman Ulrich For the first time since 2013 (the last time the Leps won a state baseball title) the La Grange baseball team is headed to the third round of the playoffs. The Leps survived numerous weather delays and a pair of elimination games to beat Burnet in a best of three series Friday and Saturday in Hutto.

La Grange High School held its Sports Banquet Monday at the KC Hall. Here are the to honorees announced at the conclusion of the banquet..

La Grange native Trey Supak, 28, has been called up to the Texas Rangers triple-A affiliate Round Rock and made his first start on the mound with that team May 3, pitching five innings of three-hit, two-run ball and striking out four to get the win in. He had made four starts earlier this season with Texas’ double-A team in Frisco and had a 1.77 ERA and a 3-0 record in 20.1 innings.

La Grange hurdler Macie Collier had qualified for The Texas Track and Field Coaches Association Meet of Champions this weekend in San Antonio. Only state champs and others who meet the qualifying times can compete.

The 22-4A all-district softball team has been released, and a lot of La Grange Lady Leps were honored. The Flatonia Bulldog baseball team defeated the Port Aransas Marlins over the weekend to win their opening bi-district round of the UIL state baseball playoffs. This was a best two out of three series between the two squads.

After losing the opener of their best-of-three playoff series 5-4 Thursday to Kenedy, the Schulenburg baseball team rallied to win Game 2 by a 7-1 score and then clinched the bi-district title with a 6-3 win Friday.

The La Grange softball team saw its season come to an end in the second round of the playoffs Saturday after getting swept by Gatesville 2-1 and 7-2. The Lady Leps end their season with an 18-10 record.
