Twin Cities Junior Baseball Wins District 13 Championship

On Friday, June 20 at the Schulenburg Sports Complex, Twin Cities’ Junior division All Stars captured the Little League Texas East District 13 Championship going undefeated winning against Washington County with a score of 10 to 3. The Twin Cities team is comprised of boys from Schulenburg, Flatonia, and Weimar. In the tournament Twin Cities defeated teams from Rice (13 to 1), Bellville (23 to 3), and Washington County (8 to 3). Twin Cities’ advances to sectionals. Football Changes at Flatonia

Flatonia ISD has promoted Assistant Coach Drew Bridges to be the new Athletic Director. He had been offensive coordinator. Coach Matt Uzzell, who was the special teams coordinator, has been promoted to Head Football Coach. The two coaches filled the spots opened up when Coach Brent Mascheck, 53, retired from public school coaching last month and accepted a job at Assistant AD and defensive coordinator for Victoria St. Joseph High School, a private school. The Bulldogs went 1-9 last season.

Jumping For Joy

The La Grange High School Cheer team recently completed at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Cheer Camp at University of Texas. There were 21 studentathletes from LHS who attended.
La Grange had five girls earn All- American cheerleader designations and an All- American mascot (Freshman-Julia Melton). Shown above are the cheerleaders who earned All-American: Jace Baptiste, Caleigh Brock, Clara Bundick, Kaylee Soto and Haedyn Cooper.

La Grange’s East Runs at Nationals

La Grange native Trey East III placed 17th in the 400 meters at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Track and Field Championships last week in Eugene, Oregon East ran a 46.07. East was also part of the University of Houston’s 4x400 relay at nationals that placed 14th with a time of 3:04.36.

Supak Pitching Well in Minors

La Grange native Trey Supak is having a really good month of June so far with Frisco, the Double-A baseball team for the Texas Rangers. In three starts this month Supak is 1-0 with a 2.16 ERA in 16.2 innings pitched with 13 strikeouts.

Schulenburg Baseball Team Receives State Medals

The members of the state semifinalist Schulenburg baseball team got their state bronze medals and their semifinalist trophy at this week’s Schulenburg school board meeting. The team is shown here with their hardware. The Shorthorns went 20-15 this season, and lost to eventual state champ Centerville in the state semifinals.

Targac Shines at THSBCA All-Star Game

Bruns Turns Flatonia Baseball Over to Mica

Legendary Flatonia baseball coach Shawn Bruns has informed Flatonia ISD that he plans to step down as head coach of the baseball team but remain as the school’s assistant athletic director. Bruns’ former player and current assistant coach Colby Mica will take over as head baseball coach.
