Leps Tangle With El Campo in First Scrimmage

Leopard football fans looking for things to be excited about found plenty to cheer for in Friday’s first preseason scrimmage by La Grange. After some early struggles against a big El Campo squad, both the La Grange offense and defense got better as the scrimmage went on.

Fayette County Swimmers Compete At the State-Level Games of Texas

Fayette County swimmers made waves at the 2025 Games of Texas held in College Station, proudly representing Region 5 and the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF). This annual state-level event showcases top athletes from across Texas who qualify through regional competitions in a wide range of sports, including swimming, track and field, soccer, and more.

Weimar Vets Win Community League Baseball Title Over Serbin Jackrabbits

The Weimar Vets traveled to Voekel/Koether field in La Grange Sunday to face the Serbin Jackrabbits in the Championship game. A tight game in the first seven innings was due to good pitching and defense by both teams. In the top of the eighth, with one out, Mark Revilla walked and went first to third on a wild pitch. Next up, Kyle Peschel singled to center to score Revilla. In the bottom of the ninth, with the bases loaded, pitcher Matt Sandoval fielded a ground ball, threw to Kyle Peschel, catcher, who fired the throw to first for a game ending double play. Final score was Vets 1, Serbin 0.

Impressive Opening Night for County Volleyball Teams

It was an impressive opening night for Fayette County volleyball teams as all five county squads grabbed victories. • La Grange, led by new coach Ryan O’Neal, went to Weimar and beat the Wildcats in five sets 23-25, 25-12, 23-- 25, 25-23, 15-10.

Schulenburg Festival Golf Tournament Results

The 25th Annual Schulenburg Festival Golf Tournament took place Friday, Aug. 1, at the Flatonia Golf Course. Pictured below are the winners. Three teams shot 10 under par, three teams shot 7 under par, one team shot 4 under par, and three teams shot 3 under par. Tiebreakers were played on hole 18.
