The Flatonia football team snapped their nine-game losing streak in a big way, blasting Louise 44-0 Friday in the season opener for both teams. Flatonia’s Jaylon Anderson threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns (to Zayden Perez and Sean McKim) and also ran for a score.

The Schulenburg football team began their new era under head coach Clay Ferguson with a resounding 42-0 victory over Hallettsville Sacred Heart Friday. Debuting their renovated stadium, the Shorthorns amassed 394 yards while limiting Sacred Heart to just 34 total yards.

The Leopard football team made quite an opening night statement, blasting Cameron Yoe 41-14 on the road Friday night. Against a Cameron team they needed overtime to defeat in last year’s season opener, La Grange jumped out to a 34-0 lead after three quarters Friday before Cameron finally found the scoreboard.

The Flatonia Bulldogs are really hungry for a win. They have spent all offseason with the bad taste of a nine-game losing streak.

La Grange’s home volleyball opener was worth the wait. The Lady Leps played their first 18 matches of the season on the road.
