The Flatonia volleyball team stunned district-leading Weimar Friday in five sets, winning 26-24, 25-21, 22-25, 22-25 and 15-11. That vaults the Lady Bulldogs into a three-way tie atop the district standings with Schulenburg and Weimar, which all have 6-2 district records.

Despite the Loss, Lady Leps Have Already Clinched Playoff Berth Heading Into Regular Season’s Final Week The La Grange volleyball team came within one point of knocking off district-leading and No. 9 state-ranked Bellville Friday in a five-set thrillers in the Lady Leps home finale.

Wednesday the La Grange Middle School Cross Country teams competed at the district cross country meet at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. The girls placed 1st and the boys team placed 3rd, individual results below.

The Schulenburg football team put a scare into a Ganado team that is the defending state champs before the Indians eventually prevailed 42-20 Friday. The Shorthorns led 14-0 in this one and 20-7 before Ganado scored the final 35 points of the game.

Like a group of traveling red-clad magicians, the Bellville football team has built a dynasty on misdirection. Their who-has-the-ball Slot-T offense has given defenses fits for years, and the story was the same Friday as Bellville rushed for 538 yards in a 56-21 victory over the Leps.

The Flatonia football team is off this week after starting the season with a 5-2 record and is 2-1 in district. They play next week at Kenedy and could clinch a playoff berth with a win..
