QB With Local Ties Having Big Career at 6A Tomball

Jaxyn Faldyn, the grandson of Allen and Joyce Faldyn of La Grange, is having a big season as a quarterback for the Tomball football team. Tomball is Class 6Ateam and is 6-1 this season. Jaxyn has thrown for 1,362 yards this season (194 yards per game) with 17 touchdowns and just one interception. He was a unanimous all-district QB in 15-6A last year and has college offers from a number of different college programs, including Air Force, Lamar and Midwestern State, among others. Jaxyn is the son of LHS grads Bradley and Kami Faldyn.

Volleyball Regular Season Winding Down

All five Fayette County volleyball teams have a single match left in the regular season. And while all five teams are headed to the playoffs, there’s still plenty to play for in these final matches.

Schulenburg Runs at Regional Cross Country

Schulenburg competed in the UIL Region 4 Cross Country Championships this week at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Ellie Hammack finished 43rd with a time of 14:34. Anna Marie Granados finished 84th with a time of 15:55 and Michaela Kollmann finished 102 with a time of 16:40. Victor Mandujano was injured during the boys race and did not complete the course.

Gardiner and Cox Split $300 Football Pick-It Pot

Brock Gardiner, far left, and Brian Cox, far right, split the $300 football pick-it pot this week after both picked all 10 games correctly in our reader contest. Both Gardiner’s and Cox’s tiebreaker score prediction for the Cowboys game were also the same numbers away from the actual score so they each got a $150 gift card, presented by Fayette County Record publisher Regina Keilers.

Swimmers Represent La Grange Well at 5A Meet

The La Grange Leopards swim team showed impressive improvement in their second meet of the season, competing in a tri-meet against Bryan and Brenham, both 5A programs. Despite facing larger schools, the Leopards proved they could hold their own in the pool.

Tiebreaker Doesn’t Break Tie, Two Win
