The Flatonia volleyball team opened the 2A playoffs with a sweep of Kenedy Thursday, winning 25-10, 2512, 25-22. The Lady Bulldogs now advance to play Thorndale Monday Nov.

The Fayetteville volleyball team bashed Buckholts in their 1A volleyball playoff opener 25-10, 25-4, 25-8 Thursday. The Lady Lions improved to 27-13 with the victory and now advance to play Hull-Daisetta in the area round. In Thursday’s victory, Lainey Gromaski had 14 kills to lead the Lady Lions. Cambree Denham had eight kills and Maycee Miller had five. Devynn Moeckel had four kills and Aubree Graeter had three. Scotti Beseda and Emily Keilers each had eight aces. Cambree Denham had five aces and Graeter had three.

The Flatonia football team lost to Weimar Friday 21-7. The Bulldogs fell to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in district with the loss.

In a homecoming of sorts, La Grange native J.K. Dobbins ran for a team-high 61 yards as his Denver Broncos came to Houston and beat the Texans 18-15 Sunday.

The Schulenburg Shorthorns vaulted back into playoff position with a 49-6 victory on the road over Danbury last week. The Shorthorns are now 4-5 overall and 3-2 in district and moved up from fifth place to third place in the district standings with Friday’s win.

The La Grange and Giddings football teams have been playing each other for over a century, but these historic rivals have never lit the scoreboard up like this before. In a Halloween night slugfest, the Leps beat the Buffaloes 66-42 to officially clinch a playoff berth in what was their home finale.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce the fifth annual AVCA Best and Brightest Awards for Girls High School Senior studentathletes to honor individual high school Senior studentathletes who excel on and off the court.
