Lady Horn Seniors Shine in Regional Final

One huge key to Schulebburg’s victory over Flatonia in the Region IV-2A volleyball title match was the play of the Lady Horns four seniors. As they faced down the prospect of what could have been their final high school volleyball match, Landry Zapalac, Reagan Dusek, Clara Magliolo and Grace Schramek all shone brightly when their team needed them most.

Round Top-Carmine Wins Regional Semis

The Round Top-Carmine Cubettes earned a berth in the regional volleyball title match with a four set win over Utopia Tuesday in Seguin in the fourth round of the playoffs. The Cubettes won 25-23, 25-27, 25-16, 25-22.

Fayetteville Volleyball Falls in the Regional Semifinals

The Fayetteville volleyball team lost its regional semifinal match Tuesday in Seguin to McMullen County 25-18, 25-19, 25-22. The Lady Lions end their season with a 29-14 overall record. McMullen County advances to face Round Top-Carmine in the regional final Friday in Athens.

La Grange Youth Football Teams Head to Playoffs Saturday in Hallettsville

The La Grange Youth Football & Cheer Association’s Freshmen and Junior Varsity teams are set to compete in the first round of the Colorado River Valley Youth Football Coalition playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Brahma Memorial Stadium in Hallettsville. The La Grange Leopards Freshmen team (6-3) will take on the Bellville Brahmas (5-4) at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Junior Varsity team (7-4) facing the Columbus Cardinals (8-3) at 12 p.m.

Four Fayette County volleyball teams kept their amazing playoff runs going Thursday as they all won third round playoff matches in commanding fashion. The victories vault Fayetteville and Round Top-Carmine into the 1A regional semifinals, while the victories by Schulenburg and Flatonia in their 2A regional semifinals sets up a battle between those two neighbors for the Region IV-2A title.

Sealy Beats La Grange 42-7 in Regular Season Finale

Sealy put the finishing touches on a 9-1 regular season at the expense of the visiting La Grange Leopards Friday as the Tigers dominated on both sides of the ball to win 42-7. But the loss is not the end of the road for the Leps (5-5 overall and 2-3 in district).
