Lady Leps Off to Perfect Start in Basketball Season

The La Grange girls basketball team has gotten off to a perfect 4-0 start to the new season. The Lady Leps most recently downed Cedar Creek on the road Tuesday 74-21. That comes on the heels of victories in their first three games, beating Wharton 84-10, beating El Campo 67-33 and beating Gonzales 53-36.

New Book Keeping Alive the Legend of Hugo Hollas

Hugo Hollas grew up on a farm in High Hill where he spoke German at home. He went on to play five seasons in the NFL during the 1970s before returning to Schulenburg, where he was a wellknown businessman and friend to many. Hugo died unexpectedly in 1995 at the age of 49.

Leps Swim Team Delivers Top 4A Finish at the Potts Invitational

The La Grange High School Swim Team traveled to Belton on Saturday to compete in the Roy and Jean Potts Invitational, a meet that brought together 22 schools, including 7 Class 4A programs. Battling through limited practice time and several illnesses during the week, the Leopards rose to the challenge—finishing 7th overall against primarily 5A and 6A teams and earning the title of top-placing 4A school at the meet.

Bertsch Wins Final Football Prize

Congratulations to Donald Bertsch for winning our final reader football pick it contest of the season. Bertsch was one of six who picked all 10 games right last week (along with David Cooper, Willie Gillie, Randy Gardiner, Brian Cox and Bo Janda) but Bertsch wins the $100 based on the score prediction tiebreaker – the UT/Georgia game.
