Lady Leps Improve To 18-8

The La Grange girls basketball team Beat Anderson-Shiro Tuesday 69-57 to improve to 18-8. This was the Lady Leps’ final non-district tune-up. They begin district play Friday at Smithville at 5:45 p.m. Additionally, Lady Leps Macie Collier, Campbell Cooper and Kylie Trlicek were named all-tournament at the Aggieland Invitational last week.

Lions Roll On

The Fayetteville boys basketball team won their seventh game in a row Tuesday, beating North Zulch 94-49. The Lions are 16-5 overall and 2-0 in district and have climbed to No. 7 in the state in the latest 1A poll.

Fayetteville Girls Bash North Zulch

The Fayetteville girls basketball team bashed North Zulch Tuesday 50-18 as the Lady Lions improved to 1012 overall and 4-0 in district. Cambree Denham led Fayetteville in scoring with 14 points and Devynn Moeckel scored 12.

Leps Go 1-4 Last Week

The La Grange boys basketball team had a busy week last week, The Leps played five games but were only able to win one. They started the week at the Vanguard Tournament in Waco, falling to Bay Area Christian, Live Oak Classical and Vanguard College Prep, but they did beat Coram Deo Academy 58-30.

District Play Looms for Lady Leps

While most of their classmates were having a relaxing post-Christmas break, the La Grange girls basketball players had a busy week on the court – as district play looms just days away. Last week the Lady Leps, in a stacked field of 28 teams at The Aggieland Invitational Tournament, went 3-2, including wins over Pollack Central, Graham and Glen Rose before they fell to Bridge City and La Vernia.

RTC Boys Win District Opener

The Round Top-Carmine boys basketball team won their district opener Friday, defeating Calvert 50-41. The victory improves the Cubs overall record to 6-10.

Pool Leaves LGISD for College Gig

La Grange is having some midseason coaching shakeups. Brodney Pool, a former NFL defensive back, who has been the Leps football defensive coordinator and head boys soccer coach the last three seasons has resigned to take an assistant football coaching job at Eastern New Mexico University.

Flatonia Girls Basketball Team Improves Record to 21-2

The Flatonia girls basketball team improved its record to a remarkable 21-2 overall and 3-0 in district with a 6735 victory over Shiner Friday. Summer Sodek had 41 points, 16 rebounds, six steals and five assists – leading the team in each of those categories.
