Sculenburg and Flatonia played a district basketball doubleheader Tuesday with each team winning one battle. The Schulenburg boys beat Flatonia 66-38.

La Grange boys basketball coach Trent Collier really got to enjoy his 200th career win Tuesday. The Leps put the game away early and cruised to a 64-35 victory over Caldwell, and then after the game his family brought out a banner, a big “200” cake and special shirts for the team to mark the occasion.

What a great day at the Hallettsville Knights of Columbus Hall as the 74th Annual Texas State Championship Straight Domino Tournament wrapped up Sunday at one of the oldest straight domino tournaments in the state.

• The Fayetteville girls basketball team defeated Calvert Tuesday 60-4 as the Lady Lions improved to 13-13 overall and 7-0 in district. Cambree Denham led Fayetteville in scoring with 20 points.

The SALT (Smallest Aquatic League in Texas) League is made up of swimmers from several surrounding communities, including Fayette, Columbus, Schulenburg, and Rockdale, bringing together athletes from across the region to compete as one team. The SALT League swimmers took on the best from across the state this weekend at the TAAF Winter State Games of Texas in Victoria, delivering strong performances, multiple podium finishes, and valuable championship experience against year-round competition.

The La Grange Leopard High School cheerleading squad competed Friday at the Spirit State Championships at the Fort Worth Convention Center against 61 of the other top 4A Division II teams in the state.

In District 28-2A boys basketball action Friday the Schulenburg boys lost to first place Shiner 51-49. The Shorthorns fell to 3-1 in district.

La Grange Powerlifting competed on Wednesday in Cameron for the first meet of the season. Both the girls and boys teams put together strong performances across multiple weight classes.

With the Denver Broncos winning their AFC Divisional Round game Saturday over the Bills, the chances are still alive that La Grange-native J.K. Dobbins might see postseason action for Denver.
