Volleyball Roundup: Leps Off to 7-3 Start; Fayetteville Wins Tourney

The La Grange volleyball team improved its record to 7-3 by going 6-3 at the Wimberley Tournament Thursday-Saturday. The Lady Leps beat Round Rock Christian Academy, Long Creek, Stockdale, Blanco, Savio and Victoria East. La Grange lost to Peaster, Nixon and Sotomayor.

The Lady Leps play at Lockhart Tuesday.

Fayetteville

The Fayetteville volleyball team won all five matches it played at the Bellville Faith Academy Tournament last week to win the tourney title.

The Lady Lions defeated Covenant Christian, NVTO twice, Faith Academy, and Snook.

The Lady Lions are now 6-0 heading into Tuesday’s match against Burton.

RTC

The Round Top-Carmine volleyball team won their season opener over Anderson-Shiro Tuesday 25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 26-24.

Individual stats for the Cubettes included:

• Madison Markwardt 7 kills, 26 digs, 26 assists, 5 aces.

• Bree Dooley 18 kills, 1 assist block, 11 digs, 1 assist, 1 ace

• Jessica Rohde 6 kills, 1 assist block, 4 digs, 2 assists

• Hayden Kasmiersky 1 kill, 2 assist blocks, 1 dig

• Rebekah Sacks 2 kills, 1 dig

• Makayla Smith 1 kill, 9 digs, 2 assists

• Liliana Salinas 22 digs, 4 aces, 4 assists

• Avery Nelius 1 kill, 10 digs, 1 ace

• Alin Soto 2 digs, 1 assist

• Reagan Williams 8 digs.

Schulenburg

The Schulenburg volleyball team has started its season with a 5-4 record and was the fourth place team in the Gold Bracket at the recent Columbus Tournament.

In that tourney, the Shorthorns defeated El Campo, Fort Bend Bush, Burton and Weimar, but lost to Victoria West twice and Columbus twice.

Landry Zapalac was named to the all-tournament team.

In the season opener over East Bernard, the Lady Horns won 25-12, 25-20, 25-21.

Landry Zapalac led the team with 34 assists. Greenli Van Zandt had 14 kills and Haylee Vacek added 14.

Reagan Dusek had three aces and four blocks.

Vacek led in digs with 17. Michaela Kollmann had 12 digs Van Zandt had 10, and Miranda Bonner had nine.

Flatonia

The Flatonia volleyball team has started the season 2-6.
