Volleyball Regular Season Winding Down

All five Fayette County volleyball teams have a single match left in the regular season. And while all five teams are headed to the playoffs, there’s still plenty to play for in these final matches.
La Grange swept Smithville 25-11, 25-19, 25-10 on the road Tuesday to improve to 25-16 overall and 6-3 in district. Carley Ulrich had 12 kills, Kylie Trlicek had 16 assists and Ashtyn Smith had 10 digs to lead the Lady Leps.
They are tied with Caldwell for second in the district standings, and the Lady Leps and the Hornets play one another Friday in a match that will break the tie.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday both Schulenburg and Flatonia won to keep them tied atop the 27-2A standings. The Lady Horns and Lady Bulldogs play one another at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Schulenburg for the district title. Tuesday, Schulenburg beat Weimar 2518, 23-25, 11-25, 28-26, 15-11 as the Lady Horns improved to 29-14 overall and 7-2 in district. Flatonia, meanwhile, had no trouble with Louise Tuesday, winning 25-5, 2514, 25-14 to improve to 2220 overall and 7-2 in district. Flatonia’s Kat Sullivan had 17 kills, Quinn Arnett had six and Emma Kosler had five. Kosler led in digs with 19, Brynlee Zimmerman had 18 and Summer Sodek had 12. Sodek had 24 assists and three aces.

The Round Top-Carmine volleyball team defeated Waelder Tuesday 25-4, 25-8, 25-11. Madison Markwardt had 12 assists, eight aces and four kills. Bree Dooley had five kills, five digs, four assists and three aces. Jessica Rohde had six kills and Makayla Smith had five. Avery Lamson had nine assists.
• The Fayetteville volleyball team defeated Waelder 25-11, 25-8, 25-13 last Friday.
Devynn Moeckel had six kills and Lainey Gromaski had four. Gromaski had six aces and Raelee Denham and Scotti Beseda each had four. Beseda had 13 assists and seven digs. Moeckel had six digs.
