Shorthorns Football Team Demolishes Danbury 49-6

The Schulenburg Shorthorns vaulted back into playoff position with a 49-6 victory on the road over Danbury last week.

The Shorthorns are now 4-5 overall and 3-2 in district and moved up from fifth place to third place in the district standings with Friday’s win.

Daterrion Houston ran for 143 yards and three touchdowns for Schulenburg. Tavondrick Ellison and Landon Conner also ran for scores for the Shorthorns.

Schulenburg quarterback Owen Brenek threw for 178 yards and a pair of touchdowns to Jayse Janda.

The Shorthorn defense limited Danbury to just 178 total yards.

Schulenburg now turns its attention to old rival Flatonia. The Shorthorns host the Bulldogs Friday at 7:30 p.m. in what is essentially a mustwin game for each team’s playoff hopes.
